Thanks to the introduction of the Government’s scrappage scheme it looks like the downward spiral of car production has slowed according to new SMMT figures for July 2009.  The figures show year-on-year production fell 18 % to 107,635 units, with year to date volumes down 45.8 % to 518,375 and SMMT Chief Executive Paul Everitt has even claimed that the UK motor industry is starting to stabilize.  Unfortunately the same can’t be sad for the van side of the market where production has fallen another 60%.  It seems that lack of demand and high stock levels will make van recovery production much much slower.
